When Anna and I dyed some indigo fabric a few months ago, I always knew I wanted to have the patterns reproduced and printed to a make a beautiful Window Hanging Kit. The way the light shines through those blues is just lovely. Combined with the jeweled-toned Indian block print fabrics in the middle, these little squares become a fabric stained glass masterpiece.

I love this project. It's perfect for a summer afternoon, and much more versatile than my usual offering. It's perfect for any skill level, and can be finished in almost any way you like.

In the Kit you will some indigo cotton fabric, printed onto organic calico here in the UK, there is a small charm pack of Indian Block Prints, a spool of variegated thread from Aurifil, three brass rings so you can hang your finished piece, and an instruction booklet with detailed instructions and lovely illustrations.

This has been a real family project with help from Anna, Rita, Adam and Martha to bring all these elements together.

*Please note that in the most recent restock, the Inidna Block Print patterns will be slightly different, and the project bag is a different colour.

Beautiful Handstitching project

Kate, Anna. The fabrics are so beautiful and rich in color. I ordered one when you fist had them and made 9 patches for my various windows. My granddaughter loves looking at them. Yes I just had to have another one. This is a bag of ART you all put together and I am very pleased to say I had to have another. God Bless You All. Happy Sewing/Stitching Tracy Virginia Beach USA

Indigo Window Hanging Kit

I cut the indigo squares to 3 inches after reading the instructions. That seemed small. Kate's video she says she cut them to 3.5 inches. That's a much better size. I'm still figuring out what to do about the seam allowance since I hate to lose another half inch all the way around. I'm contemplating visible hand stitches attaching the squares to seam binding (sort of like sashing, but behind the squares). That way, I'll get the stained glass effect of the seam without losing any of the indigo.

All of the fabric in the kit are gorgeous!!! The project is coming along nicely, and I can't wait to share it on Instagram! As always, I absolutely LOVE The Last Homely House!
